Rockingham Speedway 10th Anniversary Logo | Logo Design
A competition to design a new logo to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the UK’s youngest motor racing circuit proved to have world-wide appeal with the winning entry being submitted from the United States.
The Northamptonshire circuit received a fantastic response to the competition with a number of quality entries from budding artists but the design which caught the eye of the judges was received from North Carolina.
Motorsport enthusiast Shawn Magee spotted the competition on the internet, and despite living thousands of miles from the UK’s Rockingham, submitted his design which matched the circuit’s brand perfectly.
Shawn said: “It’s very exciting to see my work displayed on a national and, in my case, international level at a venue such as Rockingham. I’m honoured my design was selected to represent such an important milestone in the circuit’s history.
“I’ve entered a few similar competitions in the past relating to motorsport, but felt my design style fit well with this particular one. I wanted to keep the Rockingham 10th Anniversary logo very clean and simple, in keeping with the Rockingham brand.”
The special logo will be used throughout the circuit’s anniversary year and will feature on the Rockingham website, venue signage, all promotional and marketing literature as well as selective items of merchandise.
Rockingham Chief Executive, Charlotte Orton, said: “We were absolutely delighted with the very high standard of entries we received. The competition clearly caught the imagination of everyone who put a lot of time and effort into producing their logo design.
“The competition appealed to budding artists of all ages but to receive a design from as far afield as North Carolina was just fantastic. We were very impressed with Shawn’s design as it fitted Rockingham’s fresh, young brand and celebrates our 10th year perfectly.”
